Would you rather live in the city or in the countryside?
What are the benefits of each other? Can you convince the others that your opinion is the best?

In this exercise, your students get to decide which option suits them best and convince their classmates to join them. And then they have to make them change their minds for a twist!

They will practise argumentation and debate in this fun and fast paced exercise filled with speeches and interruptions.

Small group exercise

Instructions for this exercise

Students are divided into small groups. Then they receive a set of difficult “would you rather questions”. They must choose one option and justify it, and convince the others that’s the best option.

They must explain reasons, consequences, personal experiences and hypothetical situations.

When they are done, the next part is defending the opposite opinion, pushing them to improvise and reformulate ideas.

In dieser Übung dürfen Ihre Schüler:innen entscheiden, welche Option am besten zu ihnen passt, und ihre Mitschüler:innen davon überzeugen, sich ihnen anzuschließen. Und dann müssen sie diese dazu bringen, ihre Meinung zu ändern – das ist die Überraschung!

In dieser unterhaltsamen und temporeichen Übung voller Reden und Unterbrechungen werden sie das Argumentieren und Debattieren üben.

Anleitung für diese Übung

Die Schüler:innen werden in kleine Gruppen aufgeteilt. Anschließend erhalten sie eine Reihe schwieriger „Würdest du lieber…“-Fragen. Sie müssen sich für eine Option entscheiden, ihre Wahl begründen und die anderen davon überzeugen, dass dies die beste Option ist. Sie müssen Gründe, Konsequenzen, persönliche Erfahrungen und hypothetische Situationen erläutern.

Wenn sie damit fertig sind, geht es im nächsten Schritt darum, die gegenteilige Meinung zu vertreten und sie dazu anzuregen, zu improvisieren und ihre Ideen neu zu formulieren.

Tipp: Sie können den Schüler:innen eine Liste mit nützlichen Redewendungen geben.
