Role playing game

Learning objectives:

  • Practicing job interview
  • Acquiring professional vocabulary

Instructions for this exercise

Divide the students into 2 groups: “Bosses” and “Candidates”.

The bosses will be seating behind a table with a chair in front of them. Each one represents a different company with different needs. The candidates can choose which company to apply to, and sit in front of the boss to go through their interview.

Tip: if you have a small group you can have only one boss and the candidates may go to the interview in turns. Meanwhile they can do mock interviews to practice before facing the boss.

The bosses will have a set of cards each, with questions that the candidates must answer. If the boss considers the answer satisfactory, they can turn the card around and give it to the candidate.

The winner is the candidate with the most XP cards at the end of the game.

Extra: In a previous session, the students can be shown (or decide) what type of companies will participate in their game, and create their CV for the bosses to review accordingly, so they will have more relevant questions to ask during the game.

Tip: There is a vocabulary list for the recruiters to check if the candidates use it. You can go through all the vocabulary with the students before the game.

Roolipeliharjoitus

Oppimistavoitteet:

  • Työhaastattelun harjoittelu
  • Ammatillisen sanaston harjoittelu

Harjoituksen ohjeet

Jaa opiskelijat kahteen ryhmään: “Pomot” ja “Työnhakijat”.

Pomot istuvat pöytien takana. Jokaisen pöydän edessä on tuoli. Jokainen pomo edustaa eri yritystä, jolla on erilaiset tarpeet.

He voivat tehdä keskenään harjoitushaastatteluja ennen kuin kohtaavat pomon.

Pomoilla on jokaisella korttisarja, jossa on kysymykset hakijoille. Hakijoiden on vastattava kysymyksiin.
